- Opening
Moving phones? This guide shows a manual transfer when your old phone still has your Google Authenticator codes. Keep it until you’ve tested the new phone.
- Preparation
Update Authenticator on the old phone and install it on the new one. If you use Google Account sync, signing into the same account in Authenticator may already bring your codes back. Here we’re demonstrating manual transfer.
- Export
On the old phone, open Menu, then Transfer accounts and Export accounts. Unlock the device, select the accounts, and tap Next.
- Import
On the new phone, choose Transfer accounts, then Import accounts. Scan the old phone’s QR code. You may need to scan more than one.
- Verify
Check the transfer confirmation. Then test a sign-in with a code from the new phone before retiring the old one.
- Close
If you no longer have the old codes and did not sync them, follow the affected service’s recovery process. This transfer guide cannot bypass account verification.
